Festival de Jazz de Murcia 2021

On March 7, 2021 we were able to return to the stage, and what better way to do it than in the framework of a festival, the Murcia Jazz Festival, and accompanying the saxophonist Patxi Valverde as the leader of the project. A project of original compositions by Patxi, and with Antonio Peñalver on double bass, Quique Ramírez on drums and Enrique Simón on piano.

Here I share some images and videos of the rehearsals and backstage ..

Here we were working on the intro of Patxi's song, Benito's Five ...

It's a complex Intro, where Patxi kept giving me directions ... With each attempt I got closer and closer to the Intro that he had in his head ...

Whenever I arrive at the place where I am going to perform, I love to approach the Piano ... It is a very special moment. The first contact with the piano ... its sound and resonance, its mechanics. From here the piano and I will begin a particular relationship. And the better this first moment, the better the result will be during the concert.

And finally the concert ...

It was a unique night. After some months without being able to act due to the general restrictions ...

We had an intense weekend of rehearsals, but the concert went very well. As always, "things" happened, unexpected things, which must be resolved immediately by the whole group ...

It must be said that the repertoire was really inspiring. A set of compositions by Patxi himself that made us fly together for an hour and a half ...
